Wadacre Farm

Press Release in "The Challenge" Newspaper February 2010

Wadacre Farm Private Day Nursery is located in Melling and offers a rare opportunity for children to experience the chance to interact with farm animals.

Susan Lant, said: "Not every child has the opportunity to come into contact with animals, we find it a great stimulant for the children, not only meeting the animals but also learning about them. "The children take pictures of the animals and are able to download them onto the computers, they then produce a booklet about them, it is a good way of also introducing the children to technology.

"We also have staff assigned to each room permanently so the children can identify their key workers who they are comfortable with and which also gives them a sense of familiarity and security".

Wadacre Farm Private Day Nursery opened in 2006 and operates from four rooms in a large barn conversion, on the same site as a small farm. It is situated in a residential but rural area, close to schools and shops, in Melling, Merseyside.

A maximum of 94 children may attend the nursery at any one time and it is open each weekday from 7.30am to 6pm, all year round.

All children share access to a secure, enclosed outdoor play area. The setting is registered on the Early Years Register, and the compulsory and voluntary parts of the Childcare Register. There are currently 58 children on roll. The nursery employs 13 members of staff, all of whom hold appropriate early years qualifications.
